Privacy Policy for the Word Puzzles apps

Last updated: 2026-09-21

This policy explains how wordpuzzles.eu ("Word Puzzles", "we", "us" or "our") handles information when you use our mobile games and contact us for support. It covers every mobile app we publish that links to this policy.

This policy is hosted at https://wordpuzzles.eu/apps/privacy/ and applies to the Android and iOS apps that link to it. You can open it through the "Privacy policy" link in the app's menu.

For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].

Information used by our games

Game progress and settings. Our games save information such as completed puzzles, scores, streaks, unfinished games, language and display preferences on your device. This allows you to continue playing and keep your settings. We currently do not provide user accounts or a server-based progress-sync service. Your operating system may include app data in backups or device transfers, depending on its settings.

If you use a backup or save-code feature, you decide where to copy, save or share that code. We do not receive the code through that feature.

Puzzle downloads. The games download puzzle content. These requests reveal your IP address and ordinary network-request information to our hosting provider. The requested file identifies the game, language and puzzle being downloaded. We use this processing to deliver content and protect the service against abuse.

Feedback and support. Sending a problem report is optional. If you use the in-app report form, we receive your message with troubleshooting information: the game, language, platform, app version, puzzle number and date where available, a shortened device user-agent string, and the country inferred by our hosting provider from the network address. We use this information to investigate problems and improve the games.

We do not ask for your contact details in the report form. Common email-address patterns are removed by our software, but other personal information you type may remain. Please avoid including personal or sensitive information in a report.

If you email us, we receive your email address, any sender name and the contents of your message. We use them to answer you and handle your request.

Analytics and crash reports. The apps use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, services provided by Google, to understand how the games are used and to find errors. They collect a random app-instance identifier, app version, device model and operating system, language, coarse location derived from your IP address, the screens and game events you trigger (for example starting or completing a puzzle, or using a hint), and, when an error occurs, technical details about it. This information does not include your name, contact details or the text of your feedback. Google processes it on our behalf and under its own privacy policy; analytics data is retained for up to 14 months and crash data for 90 days. Analytics collection is enabled by default in the current mobile apps, and there is no in-app analytics opt-out setting. Advertising privacy choices are separate from analytics. The web versions of the games use Google Analytics as described on the website that hosts them.

Security information. Network requests expose your IP address to our infrastructure providers. Our feedback service uses it to limit abusive requests but does not write it into the feedback database. Infrastructure providers may process technical information for delivery, security and service operation.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

Where European or UK data-protection law applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in supporting, maintaining and securing the games for support and security processing, taking your rights into account. We rely on legal obligations where processing is required by law, and consent for processing that requires it. You may withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Reminders and sharing

If you enable daily reminders, the app requests notification permission and schedules reminders on your device. Your reminder schedule is not sent to our servers to deliver those notifications. You can turn reminders off in the app or your device settings.

You can share results as text or a generated image using your device's share sheet. Images are created in the app's temporary cache. You choose the receiving app or service, which handles the shared information under its own privacy practices. We do not receive your shared result through this feature.

Advertising and promotion

Advertising availability depends on the game, version and region. We may show ads from advertising networks, work with services that select ads from multiple networks (mediation), and use advertising and measurement services to promote our games. The practices below apply only where the relevant advertising or measurement service is enabled. Naming a service here does not mean every app uses it. Versions without those integrations do not carry out the processing associated with them.

Information and purposes. Depending on the service, platform, configuration and your choices, advertising and measurement services may collect or receive:

These services use information to select and deliver ads, limit repeated ads, measure ad performance and campaign results, operate their services, and detect fraud or invalid traffic. Where permitted by your choices and applicable law, they may combine information with activity from other apps or websites to personalize advertising. We do not provide the contents of your feedback messages or support emails to advertising or measurement partners for advertising.

Partners and their notices. Where advertising or campaign measurement is enabled, we identify the active advertising networks, mediation partners and measurement providers in this policy or a partner notice linked from it. Any such partner notice forms part of this policy and is accessible through the same in-app privacy policy link. Those disclosures give the providers' names, links to their privacy information, and the purposes for which they receive information. They are provided before the relevant processing begins. Services may handle information on our behalf or for their own purposes as explained in those notices. Adding a partner does not permit additional purposes or data collection beyond the applicable disclosures and your choices.

Google advertising services. The current mobile app packages include Google AdMob. Mini supports a banner that is controlled by remote configuration, a grace period and applicable advertising privacy choices. An included SDK does not mean a banner is displayed on every launch. Other Google advertising or measurement services may be used where identified in this policy or a partner notice linked from it. Google's information practices and controls are explained in its Privacy Policy and information about partner sites and apps. Google partners participating through mediation or other ad-serving arrangements are identified there as well.

Web advertising, including Google AdSense. Related websites may use Google AdSense or other web advertising services. Where enabled, Google and other disclosed vendors may use cookies and similar technologies to select ads using previous visits to that website or other websites. Google advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalize ads across participating sites, where permitted. You can manage Google's personalized advertising through My Ad Center and use the website's privacy choices and the disclosed vendors' controls. Browser settings can also restrict or clear cookies, which may reset saved choices. Related websites provide their own privacy and cookie notices covering their active vendors and other data practices; this mobile-app policy does not replace those notices.

Promoting our games, including Apple Ads. We may buy advertising through Apple Ads, Google or other advertising platforms to help people discover our games. The platform displaying the advertisement handles information under its own privacy notice. For Apple, see Apple Advertising and Privacy. We may receive campaign reports, such as ad views, taps and attributed installations, to understand whether a campaign is effective. If an app includes an attribution integration that sends information from your device to measure which advertisement led to an installation or subsequent activity, its provider, information and purposes are disclosed in this policy or a partner notice linked from it before that processing begins. Purchasing an advertisement does not by itself give us access to your personal advertising profile on the platform.

Your advertising choices. Where required, we present privacy choices before requesting ads or performing processing that requires consent. In versions that require these choices, we provide accessible advertising privacy controls in the app so you can review or change your choices and withdraw consent. Opening or reading this policy does not give consent. You can also manage advertising identifiers and tracking permissions through your device settings. We respect consent withdrawal and applicable opt-outs. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing lawfully carried out before withdrawal.

Where permitted, an app may show contextual, non-personalized or limited ads when personalized advertising is not allowed. These ads can still involve information needed for delivery, measurement or fraud prevention; declining personalization does not necessarily remove all advertising. Ad services may access or store information on your device, including consent choices, identifiers and data used for advertising or fraud prevention, subject to applicable consent requirements. If your choices do not permit an ad request, we do not make one. Choosing to watch a rewarded ad is separate from consenting to personalized advertising or tracking.

On Apple devices, we request App Tracking Transparency permission before accessing the advertising identifier or tracking across other companies' apps or websites. If permission is denied, we do not perform that tracking. Other privacy choices do not override that decision. Apple's own advertising personalization controls are separate from the tracking permissions for our apps.

Ad-related disclosures may be considered a sale or sharing of personal information, or processing for targeted advertising, under some privacy laws. Where these rights apply, the app's advertising privacy choices provide the relevant opt-out. This section does not authorize processing beyond what is permitted by your choices and applicable law.

Online progress and other features

We may also introduce online progress backup, accounts or other features. These features are not currently provided. Before introducing them, we will explain what information is sent to our servers, how it is used and retained, the providers involved, and how you can manage or delete it. Use of the games is not consent to personalised advertising or tracking. Where consent is required, we ask for it separately.

Service providers and other recipients

We use Cloudflare to host puzzle content and process and store feedback reports. It handles information needed to provide and protect those services. You can read about Cloudflare's practices at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

Our email provider processes messages sent to our support and privacy address. Where advertising or campaign measurement is enabled, the disclosed advertising and measurement partners process information as described above. Apple, Google and services you choose for sharing or device backup also process information under their own policies.

We do not sell feedback reports or support correspondence to advertisers. Advertising-related disclosures and your choices are described in the Advertising and promotion section. We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect people's rights and safety or address fraud or abuse.

Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where a transfer of personal information requires safeguards under applicable law, those safeguards must apply. You can contact us for information about the arrangements applicable to your data.

Retention and security

Local progress remains in the app's storage until you remove it or the device clears it. Uninstalling or clearing app storage does not necessarily remove separately exported save codes or operating-system backups.

Our feedback service runs a daily deletion process for reports older than 365 days. Support correspondence is retained for as long as reasonably needed to handle your request and any related legal obligations or disputes. Infrastructure logs and backups may have separate retention periods under our provider arrangements.

Advertising and measurement information has retention periods appropriate to the disclosed purposes and applicable legal requirements. For versions using these services, this policy or a partner notice linked from it describes retention periods or the criteria used to determine them. Providers also explain their retention practices and available deletion controls in their linked privacy information. Our feedback-report retention period does not apply to their advertising records. For example, see Google's retention explanation.

Requests to our puzzle and feedback services use HTTPS. We use appropriate access controls and security measures to protect information, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You can choose whether to send feedback, share results or enable reminders. You can manage app permissions and local data in your device settings.

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a data-protection authority. Contact [email protected] to make a request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and may ask for information needed to verify and locate the relevant data.

For an in-app report, include the game, approximate submission date and enough of the message to help us find it. We do not have an account identifier connecting your reports to your game progress.

Children

Our games are intended for a general audience and are not directed at children under 13. Please do not submit personal information about a child through the feedback form. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as our games and data practices change and show the revision date above. For material changes, we will provide an appropriate notice, such as an in-app message or release notice, and obtain consent where required. Different app versions may offer different features; notices for a new feature will explain which app and version they concern.
